Thin-set mortars were originally formulated for use with specific types of tiles and were termed "Floor Mix" (#759) and "Wall Mix" (#763). Wall Mix was designed for use with non-vitreous (absorbtive body) tile such as European imports with soft clay backs, 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" glazed wall tile, marble, etc. Floor Mix was formulated for use with vitreous (non-absorbtive) tile such as mosaics, frost-proof pavers and quarries, monocottura bodies, slate, etc.

New mortars now available from Super-Tek eliminate this confusion and prevent errors. Dual Mix, Contractor Grade Thin-set, One-Step, Super-Lastic, and Quik-Set are multi-purpose mortars which are free of sagging, and therefore may be used on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. Selection of mortar is therefore based on the level of performance required of the installation, not on the type of tile or whether the area to be tiled is a wall or a floor.
