How to Prepare Concrete Slabs for Tiling
No sealers or curing compounds should be used on concrete slabs which
are to be covered with tile, etc.
Freshly poured slabs should be covered and damp cured for a minimum of
seven days; have a broom finish; be true to within 1/4" in ten feet
(that is, there should be no more than 1/4" difference in elevation
from one end of any ten-foot distance measured to the other end); and pitched
to drains, where required.
Areas requiring fill, leveling, or patching, should be prepared using
Super-Tek's Super-Flexcote, Super-Patch, or Super-Level. Asphalt-based leveling
compounds should not be used.
The surface to be tiled must be left clean, free of dust, grease, oil,
sealers and foreign matter.
When in doubt about the surfaces adhesion, prime it with Super-Weld.
