How To Install Soap Dishes and Other Bathroom Accessories
There are basically two types of fixture installations: recessed (or
semi- recessed) and surface, also referred to as thick-bed and thin-bed
installations, respectively.
In the thick-bed installation the fixture protrudes through the back-up
wall surface, while in thin-bed installations the fixture is mounted directly
onto the back-up wall. In most instances, the back-up wall is gypsum board.
Conventional methods of mounting bathroom fixtures call for a variety
of cements, mortars, grouts, etc. to be used, depending on the type of installation
and whether or not the fixture will be in a "wet" area.
Super-Tek Super-Fixset is a rapid-setting fixture mounting compound which
may be used for all types of installations: both thick- and thin-bed, in
both wet and dry locations.
The basic set time for Super-Fixset is ten minutes, with full strength
being achieved in twenty minutes. Since Super-Fixset begins to set within
only a few minutes, the fixture need only be held in position for a short
time before it may be released without any fear of shifting.
Wire baskets or other supports are not required behind the fixture in
recessed installations as is the case with conventional mounting materials.
